Maree started Honey Bee Healthy with the purpose of providing her local supporters and honey lovers across Australia with pure, raw, unprocessed honey.
All honey is packaged in glass to protect its chemical-free properties, with each premium product sold at comparable prices.
The History of Honey Bee Healthy
From Maree Chapman:
We are a family business of third generation beekeepers following the tradition from our Father and Grandfather before him. As children and teenagers we helped our father collect the honey, extracting it by hand and selling it for 35cents a pound from our front door.
Our bees were high in the Scenic Rim area around Canungra so it was always a pleasurable day working on the harvest and then swimming in the freezing mountain streams. It was often a family event with our Mother bringing the thermos of coffee and meat and pickle sandwiches. The old Holden ute worked hard moving the hives up and down the mountain.
We learnt a lot from our father but what he gave us most importantly was the love of beekeeping. Our Father grew up in the Northern Rivers area of NSW being born in Coraki. His father, our grandfather, was a beekeeper in this region and perhaps even his father before him. So as children we would holiday in the area, visiting our many relatives along the rivers and beaches of this beautiful place. We would come for camping holidays to Patches Beach, stay with relatives on Cane farms and country retreats.
So it seems like destiny to now be working our bees in this region.
In a way it feels like coming home.
